Character descriptions
- Laila
She has elegant behaviors. Laila is the kind of big sister you would like to have as a role model. She has care and respect for everyone, with also a little touch of naivety. She is new in Kigali City, all she tries to do is try to adapt to this city while being faithful to her upbringing values.
Laila is in her twenties (21), she believes her troubled background to be the main reasons she differs from other girls of the same age.
Laila values Respect higher than anything else, which in most cases lands her in troubles, for she lives in the house where respect is not served.
- Sandra
Sandra (20) attracts everyone who scrutinizes the looks only. She is the type of person you would like to hang out with, for she has funny stories to tell all the time.
Sandra believes in her trickery behavior, she enjoys to manipulate people with her intelligence. She prefers mental work over physical, which is not the first quality of a housemaid.
Sandra dislikes not being in control, she believes taking part in what happens in life to be the power that every human must possess.
Sandra spent much of her teen years in the city, she has adapted, and she knows what it takes to deal with people around Gatenga, that’s a knowledge she doesn’t have to study in the story.
- Yvette
Yvette looks hopeful, she believes in the future and tries every way possible to accumulate wealth. Yvette is 23 years old, she is doesn’t have a huge range of hobbies, anything that puts money in her pocket is what keeps her lungs pumping air.
Yvette wants to be respected, but If you live with her for a day or two, you might realize she needs more, what she needs is power. Power to rule everything, she always finds herself at the center of attention. She chats with everyone; Kids, Girl, women, boy, men. This might be one of the reason she is so good at selling commodities in the mini market.
- Mazimpaka
Mazimpaka is in his mid-fifties. He is very calm, with no more dreams, just lives in the moment. He sounds clever every time he talks, because he talks less. Everything else is expressed in his look.
Mazimpaka feels like he has been blind all his life, he is being aware of things that he should have in his twenties. Mazimpaka is attracted to Laila’s figure, and always wants to be around her.
- Malika
Malika is 27 years old, she has a naivety that you only find in kids who were born in a prosperous family. Malika spends time self-criticizing, she is the type of person that would love to read a book on how to love oneself.
Malika thinks laila has the perfect combination of an ideal woman, and she is irritated by this every time she sees her.
- Shami
Shami is 9 years old. He is the son of Malika and Mazimpaka. He is not outgoing, he enjoys spending time at home and watch Tv. He smiles less, he is accumulating his father’s behaviors slow by slow.
- Natasha
Natasha is 32 years old, she loves the rich life. She values possessions, more than anything. She wears shinny clothes and expensive shoes. No money is enough to her, she believes working hard to be the reason to success. Working keeps her busy all the time.
- Mashami
Mashami is 25, he loves sports. He values royalty and kindness. He does not pay much attention on what he wears.
